>>57399121I was wondering, perhaps someone can answer: why this obsession with popularity contests? You seem to attach a certain value to them on /vp/, but why?
I'm not trolling, I'm genuinely curious. I mean, I've never been interested myself in pokémons popularity, so I honestly don't understand. Do you feel validated in your tastes when you see that a pokémon you like is popular? It seems strange to me, I'm not sure you do this for other things (I mean: you don't look at whether a dish or flavor is liked by others before you know whether you like it or not, so why do it for pokémons?).
In fact, I'd tend to think it's the opposite: the less a taste is shared, the more unique it is, and the more valuable it is in the end. You know it's YOUR taste, not someone else's.
Really, I may be autistic (in fact, I AM autistic), but I don't get it at all.
