but as for the drafted idea basically it's gonna be water/poison type and it's found in the obligatory swamp area (accessible after the first badge because I like sandshrew and being able to get one early), it's basically gonna be adapted for lurking in the swamp and stabbing its fish/bug prey with its barbed claws and long, harpoon-like tail, and the scales are a more muted brown
and when it evolves the regional sandslash will be brown and green with pointier spikes and a longer tail
ability options are swift swim, adaptability, tough claws, and a custom one that makes the first hit after switching in a guaranteed critical hit
yes going with 2 possible hidden abilities because i'm copying one of clover's good ideas (also I'm making HAs obtainable via random chance like regular abilities instead of obscure witchcraft for convenience reasons)
as for notable moves it gets (beyond just STAB moves for its new typing, and utility moves base sandslash gets) it gets flip turn, mortal spin, a water type first impression clone, toxic spikes, coil, and shore up
