Currently pokemon is more like a theme park of melodrama.
So in total nothing about what pokemon's doing is satisfying. Return dungeons, return your pokemon having a purpose in the overworld (not necessarily HMs), return the art direction to being more earthy and chunky, return to more simple and homely stories. Bare minimum for me to start considering pokemon good again.
Ideally now that the games are 3D, also start putting more care into the environments and wild pokemon behaviors so that you could really see how they exist in these spaces, and design local settlements to reflect how they conform to the nearby wildlife.
SV did do one thing I liked though, that the legendaries were largely actually just local legends with the treasures of ruin even being optional goals, not something like a god of death that's required to be caught to progress. It could go further since it still hands you some of the legendaries or catching them is required to progress, but it's a step.
