Let's Go is actually a decent time.
It's a glorified 3DS game don't get me wrong but it's one of the few Pokemon games in a long time who's scope didn't exceed what they were able to accomplish. It feels fully finished and thought out.

I will never forget that when this came out I was basically the only person on /vp/ that said it was at least visually great. People were so upset about the Go catching mechanics they refused to admit anything about it was good, and everyone pretended it was ugly. There were dozens of threads talking about how ugly it was. Every time I think about second guessing myself when all of /vp/ disagrees with me, I just think back to that and ignore everyone else. This was literally the best looking pokemon game.

I'm not a gwaffixbabby, looks are irrelevant. It's clearly, painfully and obviously a game made for a simpler system with spin-off mechanics shoehorned in and stretched to a $60 price point.

This is EXACTLY why I love Let's Go so much. It's probably the only 3D Pokemon game where Game Freak's typical "we didn't have time to finish the game" doesn't apply. This game is truly completed and properly thought out.

Does FFVII:R feel like FFVII, with the entire dieselpunk aesthetic being replaced by sanitized industrialism?

The music and art had SOUL.
The game respected my time and avoided pointless grind. Shinies were guranteed if you tried for them, and they were guaranteed to have good stats and be usable. The animations and models were great, and you could ride your pokemon. This game is still the best way to see and feel Gen 1 to date.

Well, it's just that sometimes (often) Game Freak are very lame when it comes to content, and they will intentionally leave some extra content for the third version. Content that by all means should've been in the initial games. So yes, most initial pair games (RGB, GS, RS, DP, XY, SM, etc) are incomplete by definition. XY and BW1 are actually alright compared to other initial pairs, but I still wouldn't call them "complete".

Its a shame as I agree the art style is gorgeous and has colors and designs that just pop. Kanto finally looked amazed. No idea why they did not stick with this. Even the camera angles compared to Sword and Shield is better.
