>>57471206You're not crazy (or we're both crazy). You're also not too old for Pokémon (34 here). The series has indeed gotten worse, or changed to something that barely resembles the franchise we cared about if you want to put it more neutrally; gaming as a whole too, but that's another topic.
I skipped SV, watching playthroughs and glitch compilations is enough for me. There wasn't anything in there that looked fun to play when I could just play a different Pokémon game or another JPRG entirely. I didn't enjoy the story either, felt way too much like SM done worse.
If the new games aren't to your liking, whether its low quality console games or timegrab/cashgrab mobile spinoffs, but you still want some Pokémon, look to the past and try something like a spinoff you skipped out on initially or a manga. I still enjoy older Pokémon media and even tried out some entries I haven't played until now and found them fun. Even some of the newer spinoff content isn't that bad, like Concierge or New Snap, but they're few. Don't rule out romhacks and fangames either. And of course, never rule out the husbandos and the many ways you can appreciate them.
Now if you excuse me, I'm gonna drown my sorrows in husbando.
