I don't actually have any hopes for this, but I do have an immense fear: the announcement of the release date will coincide with their decision to permanently shut off Bank. The only Pokemon unavailable on any of the Switch Pokemon games thus far are the elemental monkeys, Furfrou, and the Patrat line. All of which are available in XY, which relies on Bank to send them to Home to complete the Home dex for the Pokeball-colored Magearna, or heavy use of Go. If someone started on that quest right now it'd be difficult to complete that without hacking, and Gamefreak isn't gonna encourage people to hack their 3DSes, a console which is out of production, to install the cfws for Bank and Poke Transporter to make it all work.
But shutting off Bank will also shut off ribbonmaster Pokemon from being transferred forwards, and that also majorly sucks. AND it prevents the virtual console 3DS games from transferring up as well, since they rely on Bank. I can definitely see Switch ports for these games announced to compensate, transferring directly to Home instead. Just don't shut off Bank. Not yet at least. I still have so many dexes to complete, so many mons to transfer forwards. I need more time!!!
