as the end of the story happens, however, his creation is destroyed, and the person(?) that sent him into this gigantic spiral of self-hatred, his Floette, returns back to him. Finally, his life has purpose again, he's been forgiven by the one who he thought he betrayed.
and so, he started looking after himself again, and started to help others. hence why he's now a hotel owner.
..or, as another anon has said. he was finally happy again.
