>>57471400is everyone really fooled by Xeno , or are you all pretending?
Xeno has 5-8 active models on screen at all times, the reason shit in the distance looks good is because people post screenshots from emulators, but it doesn't look like that on the switch
It has the advantage of going for a darker color palette, which makes low res textures inherently better and lets normalmaps do 99% of the work when it comes to the environment, but most of the time on screen there's like 3 rocks, maybe 2 LoD models of mountains and then it's a png with parallax (to be fair, at least they got parallax which BTFOs FFVII:Demake lmao)
what I will praise Xenoblade on is the cohesiveness of the visuals
unlike PLA, SV and even PLZA all the textures and models are of a similar quality and they all look good together, whereas PLA and SV put all of their graphics in the creatures and then use a 54x54 repeating texture for mountains
basically PLA and SV try to look like a PS3 game for the models, but then have to scale back the environment to the PS1, that's why double battles drop to 10 frames sometimes, the pokemon models have 5 gorillion polygons
it's the cohesiveness that makes Xeno look good as a whole, it's not doing any miracles in the tech department, BOTW is the only miracleworker on the switch considering how it has entire forests made of individually interactable trees with interactable apples on them, etc.
