>>57517228People are just blinded by nostalgia tbqh. As someone whose first experience in Johto was HGSS it was quite jarring since I just finished replaying FRLG. The routes in Johto are so short likely to accommodate the inclusion of Kanto back then in the original games. You barely take any time then you're already in another City. Victory Road is just an abomination in general is it even Victory Road if there's 0 trainers inside aside from your rival. Then we get to Kanto which they completely eviscerated aside from Celadon and Vermillion. Aside from those two every city became 2 houses, Mart, Center and Gym that's it. Cinnabar island is gone due to game limitations and the fire type gym is moved to an ice cave... Mount moon and Lavander tower may as well not be in the game anymore after what they did to them.
Quite frankly HGSS are my most hated Pokemon game and left a very poor impression on me aside from the following Pokemon. Let's not even talk about the plot going all over the place and your rival's backstory being locked behind a Celebi event which you can't get in game.
