Utilizing their own technology with Tera they were able to make a literal underwater school with its own dome of biomes. That technology is likely going to be used to expand other areas in the region as well. Also, ever since Sun and Moon we knew the Elite Four lineup have changed since Grimsley retired, and some Gym Leaders likely have been switched out as well.
