I think the alternative take on him would be a Hoenn native, probably still working with textiles, but going with a name spiraling from indigo instead. He might also just be my original concept, a coordinator's son who ran away from home to join the gym circuit, likely in SInnoh for an appropriate nearness/distance. He'd probably still have the Beedrill and Zubat, but also an Aron and probably a Mareanie instead of the A.Sandshrew. All that combined would get me to make jokes about him being too cold, rather than too hot, like I'm planning on making for his Orre run.

Sometimes I toy with the idea of making completely original stuff with Alex. I actually have ideas for original works already but they’re not related to him. Not necessarily as he is, but mostly just within the framework of his physical and metal being (cause Pokemon wasn’t my even the first franchise I plugged him into). I don’t have any plans of making a manga and even if I did I don’t anticipate it getting picked up, but I fantasize about the idea of creating an anime sometimes and getting able to license the soundtrack for it. As you can probably tell, I enjoy human on human combat, but obviously within the scope of Pokemon, everything is supposed to be focused on Pokemon. But I like the idea of Alex having some crazy combat abilities in settings where it’s appropriate, whether realistic, technological, or magical (again, you can probably tell from the fantasy and cyberpunk stuff that I thought up). Though life is probably going to stamp out all of my interests with time, I wonder if one day AI generation will become good enough in order to allow anyone to create quality content and not just slop like the new Winnie the Pooh.
I think I’m just going to work on the afterword and finish it before my spring break. After that I think I can get finally into the headspace I need to finish this thing, since from then on there should finally be no writing distractions at all. I have nothing else to say right now.

I remember there was an image floating around saying that every region had their own theme, like Kanto being Poison, Johto being Dragons and Steel, Hoenn being water, etc.
So yeah, David would be from Kanto, and use Poison types (Muk, Weezing, Venomoth, Vileplume, Victrebeel, and Golbat).

Well, one thing is David having Swampert's perspective when he uses his Ultima power, but when he started to train using Ghost moves, well, a peaceful sleep was a thing from the past.
Sometimes nightmares, other times memories. Random events mostly. He remembers only one: when he was in Lavender, he dreamed himself standing in a desolated field, only a man without eyes wearing a military uniform. He was aware of the Kanto/Johto conflict, so he didn't said anything. But when he was about to wake up, he only asked one thing:

Team Galactic might be my favorite team, but my favorite region has to be Paldea, if only because I'd much rather LARP as being there than anywhere else...
Instead of growing into the kinda-dependable grunt she was in Sinnoh, given that the only "evil" team there is a bunch of disgruntled teenagers, Io would likely either get a boring Levincia office job where she can run her mind away, or work as a minor librarian in the region's Academy with her Bronzor (likely not the same one as her Sinnoh lifestyle) by her side. Either way, I don't doubt that her hairstyle would remain the same, as it's a very easy style to maintain, even if her hair would be its natural dark brown.

That's actually fair. Explains why there aren't many Kanto native fairies, and there are surprisingly more Johto ones (counting stuff with fairy type moves early on, like hoppip). Hoenn's being water also tracks, Sinnoh seems to be either ice or grass, etc.

Louis just was mainly set up as a source for the meme of a Cute-specced Zubat. The Beedrill is to tie back into poison, give a bit of a chuuni history to him, and give him something that can Mega Evolve.

Hey, so remember the old writing task I said I was going to get to a couple of days ago? As it turns out, I sadly don't spend enough time around here to know the ins and outs of each OC.
So I went to the omnibus instead and picked three characters at random to read about for Merry to comment on (assuming she'd know them, which she more than likely doesn't).

I am slowly but surely trying to come up with someone younger and more active in contrast to Amanda. Probably a boy, maybe even a grown-up version of one of her students.

Anyway, as for the thread task, I'm setting her in Unova and will say that, at least for the team, I can see her having a Lilligant and a Pidove. Perhaps not the most creative answer, but she likes plants and birds.

Yeah, I've played it! Although I find installing every update and working out my controls to be very hard and tedious, so I fell behind on Close Combat for a while. I've mostly played Galarian Zapdos, but I'm very happy to see that Kommo-o made it in! If I ever reinstall it, I HAVE to try Kommo-o.

I do have Fightcade! I casually play 3rd Strike, Super Turbo, MvC2, CvS2, occasionally JoJo HFTF... and those are just the games I play on Fightcade. I don't think I'm particularly GOOD, but I have fun! Fighting games are a big gaming passion for me outside of Pokémon.

Nope, Berserker was in fact one of the first summoned servants. And anyway Archer (Redman) was 2nd last, so regardless it does not matter.
She purposefully summoned him as Berserker because she had daddy issues that were implanted by the Einzbern grandpa because 1. he's an Einzbern, and therefore an idiot and 2. because a sane Heracles would turn them into mincemeat the second he's summoned for being Einzberns

Funny thing is, even if I later understood you meant F/SN Sakura, my first thought was her.

I just read over Bibi VS Jacques. Very cool! It’s neat to see an older Bibi still bi-being her good old self to a degree, that section about romance and rivalries was pretty neat. Younger Bibi would probably behave differently. It’s also nice to see Ribombee at her side even when Rairai and Ogerpon are there.

This is a funny one, because as things currently are, Merry's from no canon region at all, so she'd be a little different in any other place. Assuming she'd still have the same upbringing that pushed her into becoming a career woman, chances are she'd wind up working for her region's designated big business conglomerate, like Silph in Kanto/Johto or Devon in Hoenn.
Team-wise, she'd continue to have the uncanny ability to stumble upon Ghost types, but she'd also be limited to each region's species distribution. I could see her being drawn to Psychic types instead in Kanto and Johto, because she wouldn't feel like building a team entirely made up of the Gastly line (and Misdreavus). Her job would also lead her to seek out low-maintenance mons such as, say, Pineco in Johto, Nosepass in Hoenn or Dwebble in Unova. If she lived in a less urbanized region, her team would likely have a greater proportion of Bug and Rock/Steel types.
On that note... I'm thinking of shelving the original region concept for the time being. Most I have is its name and the Atlanta-equivalent city where Merry would live but right now I'm too distracted by college to do the research to flesh out the concept. I might just move her to Unova instead (maybe put her in Castelia or Black City) and rework her team based on regional availability (has this thread ever discussed the topic of whether to insert newer mons in older regions?).

As for the writing task, I won't get to it right now because I'm actually in the process of writing a proper Merry story, which just happens to be dream-themed too! I'll try to get it done in the next week or so.

I love the "metallic" way you shade, especially the stippling. I tried stippling once for an assignment and it was the most tedious thing I have ever tried with artwork. It's either going to be stippling or drawing heads that kills me if I start drawing.

if you want a quick explanation, the original Fate series is focused around a battle royale around 7 people and their servants (Myths and Important people from the past summoned), they fight to the death to power up the Holy grail through the deaths of each servant and the winners get a wish
The problem is that a "normal" holy grail war is not a real thing or everyone involved cheats a shit ton, hence joke images like picrel.
Even in the original game, the 3 endings end up with someone trying to either
>Start a fucking apocalypse
>make a genocide on humanity
Or the more "normal" secret motive, reach the root of all magic
If you are fighting in the Holy grail War (or HGW), you are either a random magus that is running a reckless gambit for the sake of that wish, related to the magic families that are "organizing" the HGW, or you are some random nobody that got dragged into this because they lack the needed people to get the whole Battle Royale/ritual going.
The scenarios are either references to other fate works, or they are referencing works from the wider universe.

The image sums it up pretty well, but the powerscaling is... Special. It's conceptual bullshit the whole way down, like type matchups but way more specific. If someone was killed by something in a myth, for example, they're weak to that by default. Or some aspects of mythology overapply.

Decided to do a little write up for what Miko would be like if he was from Hoenn. Similar story beats as our current Miko in that he's still a gambling obsessed child, however there'd be a few key differences in his motivations, behaviors, and team. Whereas Paldean Miko is a fun loving child who loves to gamble and hunt for treasure, Hoennian Miko is more serious, competitive, battle crazed, and hates to lose. He battles to win, whereas our Miko battles for fun.

Ayy, thanks. I figured splitting the perspective would be the clearest way to show it. Most everything I write, I prefer a first person perspective for the level of character nuance I can slip in. Different people will notice different things based on what they're cued in on, after all, and you can wildly change the tone and character impression with different focuses.

Mirror Coat and Counter shenanigans is right up his ally and fits his sort of luck based fighting style I think. Funny enough I could also see Ivy enjoying a Wobuffet's company as it is just a punching bag (and you thought Plusle had it bad)
I dabbled with the idea of giving Miko a Hoenn epilogue where he would acquire these mons eventually, so this AU was a great oppurtunity to idea to paper. But I'm kinda digging this sort of Poke Doll otaku/secret base buff idea. I might recycle it into a different OC at some point.

You have Mages. What do they do? Magecraft. Why do they do? To reach the Root (basically the big bang sorta). Why do they do x2? So they can perform magic instead (basically just magecraft that does not require mana to cast). How do they do that? Fuck knows, it's their job to find out.

But basically, the Grail go corrupted a few wars back because one of the parties wanted to cheat, so now all it does is be a massive mana tank that fulfills your wishes in the worst way possible if and when you read the fine print.
As for servants, they just are notable figures from history/mythology/legend/basically anything to engrave their name in some form of history/unexplaned exceptions that are beyond our comprehension that we just accept to be. When a mage summons one, they get a snapshot of said hero to fight with them in the war and that's that.

hello everyone, i think i'm on the other side of my death plague. i wanted to do a mega dump of new fronterra mon but i don't know if i'm going to get any more done this weekend, so i'll just post what i have now.

first is the shitty normal/flying regional bird. sparrowl, eyebrowl, and owlpine. i don't really have much to say about them, except that i intentionally made them look like they'd be ice type to screw with people. i'm going for the "normies insist it should be a different type" situation like with gyrados and shit.

the other guy is real special though. that's taxicrab. it's the genesis of this whole thing, i only asked my friend at work to come up with a pokemon region because i said taxicrab was my new pokemon. people ride these bad boys all over the place in fronterra. they're not the fastest, but they're extremely friendly and agreeable. i haven't come up with a design for a riding harness for it yet. it's water/steel type.

As for the taxy crab, remove the car top. Having the face of a VW beetle is fine, but the top is a bit over the top (pun intended).
Maybe being a giant crab the has many critters on his back would make him like a water Torterra. That could work. I don't know if this the right thing to make an example, but maybe taxy crab could work if is something like that giant bug from Solhsteim, Kyrim's DLC. I can't remember his name, but basically people used those giant bugs as transport to avoid the desert.

Somehow, Yi-Yi's sisters find more success in their respective careers in Unova. This means they spend less time at home with Yi, causing her to start her Pokémon journey sooner than later, out of pure boredom. Naturally, there is more pressure on her to step out of their collective shadows, she ditches wearing Lolita and quiets her love for Bugs. Way more stand-offish towards others, thinking that being a loner how you become stronger.

Yi-Yi's older sisters specialties are Poison and Flying, respectfully. So she turns into a Ground/Rock type trainer. None of her Pokémon (if applicable) are fully evolved because her heart isn't into it.

Emily wouldn't really be any different except for which villain team she ended up fighting before traveling the world. Her home region isn't really what shaped her as a person at all. She's a very self-made girl.

Upon looking back on this, I think I might actually add a Toxicroak to Emily's lineup. Maybe a Corviknight too. A big bubble works fine since it's also Water Type, but going with the wagon idea and it being part Steel Type, there's a thing called "aluminium honeycomb" which is made to be pretty flexible, so Taxicrab could produce a sheet of it to serve as the "wagon cover", and unlike a normal bubble, it would provide protection against the sun.

That makes total sense. A lot of Poke'mon that aren't available until late game kinda get left behind for that reason.

Been busy, don't know what's been going on here but I did notice the Jacques thing and wanted to write about Midge. For the Lampent v Starly thing I did -2+1 because while she did empathize with the starly she mostly did it out of a desire to no longer be lost with Jacques as opposed to being purely based on that empathy.

I’m taking a creative writing class right now. For this assignment, I have to write only four pages of work, double spaced. I guess I'll throw my own hat into the ring. My OC is still in the early stages but I have a rough idea for how her team will look like. She is a trainer fascinated by the esoterics of pokemon, like their supernatural abilities, and she dedicates herself to understanding and learning from them. She's from a worker family in Motostoke but does her best to appear sophisticated and elegant, but when she's angry her background tends to show through her colorful language. Her ace is a Hatterene she bonded with when her parents took her to the countryside during her childhood. The Milotic is her second oldest pokemon, and came from a feebas she fished up near Motostoke before even starting her journey.

That's one thing I have made no progress on. I don't know what her name will be, but I was thinking something that had both a shorthand and a longhand version, and something that sounds elegant but isn't too posh. She used to be very much a tomboy and her parents aren't exactly nobility either, so it wouldn't make sense for her to have a name like Arabella. Not sure what that name is yet. She's also not the type of girl to change her name just because she wants to appear more sophisticated.

Think of all the fun words a girl growing up in a worker class community will learn and you have your answer. Although she doesn't use them much nowadays.

Getting into all the reasons for her goal would touch upon her long backstory, but essentially her goal is what she calls perfection and to accrue supernatural power like that of the pokemon she uses. She wants to be radiant, healthy and strong. That desire used to border on obsession when she first began her journey, but she's since mellowed out and come to genuinely appreciate the esoteric topics she studies beyond their practical use. She also pushes her pokemon less. However, she's still very much interested in raw power and as are her pokemon. If I gave her a themesong it would be Blumenkranz but with modified lyrics. She's prideful and ambitious, but she's not outright evil. She cares for her family and when she visits her home she's friendly with her childhood pals, even though they remained crass. However, if she sees a hint of a beer belly on her friend's bodies she will make sure to strong arm them into a gym.

I'm certain that now that I've posted I'll spawn in the schizo again but oh well. 4th times the charm, surely?

As for the Jacques stuff I have once again decided to be overly ambitious when I don't have the time/energy so that's gonna take way longer than I thought. At this point I just accept that this is who I'm working with lmao
I will say I loved the ones I read so far. Ivy and Bibi are fun characters so of course I was gonna love them but this is my first time reading any Midge stuff. That ending was really good. I liked the David one because I appreciate Davidanon's willingness to make his character act immature. Someone earlier said that it was a big contrast to himbo image he usually has, which is very nice.

I hope I get the chance to hop into Smash next time around, that sounded really fun. Smash is pretty much the sole reason I like Incineroar as much as I do since I used to main him.

Yeah, it's been great seeing all the different interpretations of Black Jacques run the whole gamut. Ivy not seeing him for who he is because she's too wide-eyed and romantic, David seeing him for exactly what he is and vice versa, Alex just noping out at the first sign of trouble, and Midge having the most distressingly real outcome so far. Don't mouse over this spoiler if you're easily-influenced.
While I still leave the fine details of Jacques's character up to the cowriters, it comes as no surprise to me that bibi king's interpretation most closely matches my own personal take, but there was never going to be anything concrete when I published the prompt and that's very much by design.

Believe it or not, this is probably the only Nurse Joy I could see Ivy getting along with. She lacks the uptightness and holier than thou aura Ivy perceives Nurse Joys to have. Sure, she'd probably still have an immediate disdain for her like how a cat freaks out when it sees a snake, but I think Ivy would come around to appreciate her lackadaisical attitude.

I really liked the characterization of audino as well, subverting the norm for Pokemon like that always makes for great characters. Awesome stuff as per usual :)

Cause I figured I could make it work anyway but then the game started getting super minmax-y complete with stupid, irritating mechanics that just push said notion even harder. So I ended up dropping it. I was only like 15-20% through the game anyway, it's not like I got that far into it before it turned me away.

Beyond making the hair strands change between black and white interchangiably and probably making the hair a bit translucent, putting a second hair below it that is the opposite pattern I dont think I can do anything else

Im posting this image again that shows how people can just "construct" hair, but Im also going to add this little modded menu, with it we can modify a lot of shit in a model, how the shadows hit it, the details, maybe cutting down some parts, make other parts glow, change the shader itself, etc.

yeah, but I can just give it to her, every card can hold 7 outfits per char and thanks to mods if you want, you can just straight up give a char like 50 fucking outfits, a PC will cry loading that though.
