She probably thought the whole ordeal was just like some cute jump-cut scene in a rom-com but I was just insulted by the way she thought her affection was something I had to earn, something worth throwing my good-paying job over. In hindsight it was one of the reasons why she broke up with me because I was "too serious for her" (keep in mind she had known me for years at this point).
