everyone in 9 has an arc, even the weakest link penny has her niche fanbase.
lillie and n do most of the leg work for their gens, but they're good and there's enjoyable characters like gladion.
red and blue are legendary. ethan/lyra/kris gets points for beating red, and silver is great
the DPPt trio has some good symbolism with the lake trio and barry is a good friendly rival.
wally and bede carry their respective gens, birch's kid is awful, but atleast may is cute. marnie only has her design going for her and hop is the worst and most forced deuteragonist we've had.
kalos has nothing.
