I hate Lyra, Hilda, Rosa, ORAS May, DP Dawn's designs so I always pick the guy in those cases.
Plat Dawn is fine, Leaf and RSE May are cool and Kris is PEAK. May and Kris especially feel like the only ones designed to be trainers, their designs are sensible for trekking without them looking too masculine but also not stupidly pink uguu feminine with clear fetishistic elements like miniscule miniskirts, bare armpits or tiny shorts.
I know Sugimori most likely designed all of them one handed, don't get me wrong, but at the same time it wasn't blatant until Gen 4.
Oh and ftr, I know Rosa, ORAS May and Lyra aren't particularly fetishistic designs, I just think they're ugly and overtly cutesy. I know most women prefer to play with cuter designs but I always prefer a balanced middle road.
Anyway, if there is customization I have no reason to pick the guy. Though with Scarlet and Violet it was hard not to make a girl who didn't look like a malnourished victorian boy.
