>>57532005I honestly think Pokemon should get rid of preset "starter pokemons" or at least widen the selection a lot. Most of the time I really don't care about the three choices and instead want some rando wild pokemon.
I know it's made for marketing reasons, 3 mons highlighted, they are unique so you can't really find them, and you get to identify through your choice and think of it as YOUR own mon. Especially kids(whole Charizard vs Blastoise vs Venusaur of gen 1 for example).
For me the starters end up being just tools to getting mons I like, but I think I'm in minority on this stuff. Still the pre-defined 3 mons feels very exclusive and "not-realistic" when you can't find them anywhere nor see anyone else use them.
Maybe bump up 3 starters to 5 for some type variant. Fairy and Fighting. Or Psychic and Dark(Colosseum). Or maybe have two sets of "starter mons". One of the usual Fire/Water/Grass, then another Fighting/Psychic/Dark just bit further in the game(1st or 2nd gym).
Wtf I'm going off-topic and ranting.
