Platinum's existence does not excuse the horrible tragedy that was Diamond and Pearl, and it should not have to fix things that shouldn't have needed to be fixed.

Replaying through Moon is an absolute slog, and I've already almost given up on doing so.

Not only does Unova have some of the smallest rosters for the boss fights, but also it's really repetitive on repeat playthroughs...
Not as bad as Gen 7 though, so there's that.

I really like Zamazenta's design for some reason. It's pretty much how I would've done a shield dog myself.
Sif the Zacian is decent too, but I don't like it as much.

Black/White was the start of when GameFreak started diluting what it meant to have a rival, and having unskippable cutscenes with them every other route.

Diamond/Pearl was when they made the special/physical split. It was a net positive change for nearly every pokemon (except Sceptile)

I don't form strong opinions comparing generations to begin with. The game has changed very little over the years and the people who freak out over those minor differences are either just being autistic, or trying to ragebait.

Instead we should be discussing the direction of the franchise as a whole, for all the good it will do.

Terrible level scaling at the end with the Elite 4. Also Emerald not having Steven as a champion feels weird.

Difficulty. Even the Elite 4 are afraid of 6 pokemon teams. It has the largest dex so it has the opportunity to make sure all important battles never have duplicates and larger teams and yet it doesn't take advantage of it.

Sun/Moon/Ulta Sun/UltraMoon;
I really like Rockruff and his day evolution a lot, it's one of my favorite Pokemon even. I also really do like that there happens to be some difficulty in some of their battles. I struggled to do nuzlocke playthroughs in these games because often the Trial fights will ring your bell. I also actually like the idea that boss encounters finally cheat in the right way. Lance having Dragonites or illegal moves always felt off, but seeing a giant uncatchable Raticate kicking my ass because it has boss stats makes a lot more sense to me.

I like the concept of Mega evolutions, can make or break weaker mons. (We're going to ignore already strong mons getting them first.)

Why in the ever loving hell didn't they put Houndour, Misdreavus, etc in Johto in HGSS?

Forget the level curve still being ass, why not just swap the Growlithe/Vulpix encounter spot out with Houndour? Or maybe Misdreavus in Sprout Tower as a rare encounter?

It’s in Cliff cave. Right off cianwood. Though Houndoom is still post game exclusive (unlike pretty much every other johtomon, it doesn’t even appear in the Safari zone until after beating the league) so add this to my negative aspect of a gen/region I like.

Rose being a person in power who actually cares about fixing problems right way is a good thing (he just went about it in the dumbest way possible)

It doesn't have enough Pokémon variation on water routes. If they didn't want to add any more new Water types, they could've brought back a few more from Gen1-2.

Making the TMs infinite was a good idea to encourage people to actually use them and try them out on different Pokémon and strategies.

The real big brain play on tms was trs or what SV did.
Infinite use TMs just made it so all the good ones came lategame so you couldn’t make overpowered pokemon early.
I liked TRs and SV mats a lot more because i had access to any tm as long as I had the mats or farmed them so there was an opportunity cost

Yeah, I really like how SV solved this problem actually, I think it has the best balance of making them easy enough to obtain but still requiring the time to do it. I was about to add it in my comment but then I didn't because I thought it wasn't relevant to Gen5 after all.
For what we knew up until Gen5 though, infinite TMs were indeed a great quality of life.
