His name is Tochigi Haruka. Joined GF in 2013, its his directorial debut.

Prior to this he was a Character/Graphic designer from ORAS onward, and was the CG director for PLA

Good. The more new directors Gamefreak gives the opportunity the higher the chance of each game feeling more unique. IMO it's pretty easy, if not flat out boring, to see how both Masuda and Ohmori reused the fuck out of ideas in all of their games.

They don't need directors, they need to fire all the dinosaurs that can't code. We've known since SWSH that there's a ton of senior devs that have been there since the 90s that hold back their projects.

Actually that's looking less likely now. Iwao was with Ohmori in the leaked gen 10 discussions, possibly meaning he's the director and Ohmori has taken over a more senior role when Masuda left in 2022.
