>>57575277Hey man I don't hate everything about it. In fact rereading RGB I'm realizing not only do I like it more than I gave it credit for in the past when I'd been like "everything about Adventures sucks and I hate it" because truthfully I was being kind of hyperbolic then. Most of my comments about RGB as I reread have actually been more along the lines of "I can see how this moment planted the seeds for some of Kusaka's weirder writing tendencies in later arcs, but it actually works just fine here." I've even defended some of the stuff actual fans of the manga commonly shit on, like the evil gym leaders and, though I was gonna post about it later, Red getting the badge from Misty. People are always like "REEEE he didn't earn that badge" but in context since there was a timeskip it's pretty clearly
>he legit improved during their training session and beat her offscreenor
>he didn't beat her but their training humbled him and made him work harder/take it more seriously than he'd been doing, so the badge was actually a sign of his character developmentUnless it's revealed in one of the arcs that I'm not as familiar with like FRLG or HGSS that she just gave it to him because she thought he was hot, I thought that moment was fine. It's weird, the stuff I'm cool with in Adventures is the stuff that gets criticized and the stuff I hate is what everyone loves
Yeah sorry for the diversion. But I actually WISH these threads were more of an Adventures hugbox because I'd like to see more conversation about this and other manga in general, and though I'm not a fan of Adventures really, I think I'm actually really interested in it and do enjoy discussing it with others. Different perspectives and all that.
I used to post in the Pokemanga threads back in like 2023 before they died off for a while (and I'm really happy to see them back), and though I know my posts are probably annoying to some Adventures fans, I really would like to see the threads more active too.
