Sonic Team would make a better game on their best day. They at least have experience developing for higher-end consoles. Gamefreak is still basically a 3ds game developer. Without the limitations of non-hybrid handhelds, they are getting exposed as being crunched for time and not capable of producing products on the level of other nintendo games. Sonic team is the most hit-or-miss developers ever, but their hits are significantly more impressive development wise then SS/SV

Sonic Team's Pokémon:

Classic Sonic pandering isn't comparable to Kanto pandering. Pokemon has so many other regions it could be making nostalgic callbacks to, it just focuses on Kanto and sometimes Sinnoh. Sonic just has Classic or Modern Sonic. Green Hill Zone pandering would have been better to specify.

Sonic team hasn't been good in ages, Shadow Gens was probably one of the few good games they've released in ages and by itself it felt like a miracle that it exists, but the rewrites to base Generations are fucking abysmal, Frontiers was a garbage Unity openworld slop tech demo with "le witty and funny callbacks" every 5 seconds, I don't think I need to say anything about Forces. Mania wasn't even made by Sonic Team and it was probably the best Sonic Game in well over 20 years. I'm one of the few people who likes Unleashed but I still have a ton of issues with it and I'm not gonna petend it was good either, Sonic has slightly more competent devs but Sonic games have been shit for a lot longer than Pokemon and only recently started making some stuff that isn't complete garbage. Not to mention Sonicfags are somehow even more autistic than Pokefags.

Pretty much and as usual with Sega ever since the late 00's they'be been slopping behind Nintendo and often try to copy popular Nintendo games, Lost World is a shitty attempt and shoving Mario gameplay into Sonic, with discount Koopalings and Zavok is just a Bowser ripoff, Sonic Racing Transformed is a shitty Mario Kart ripoff and Sonic Team saw how good Brap of the Wild did in the box office despite being a dogshit game and decided to copy it as well, even down to having what's essentially the 4 divine beasts but with an Evangelion skin over them to pretend they're definitely not the same thing. Honestly the sheer amount of damage BoTW and by vague association Skyrim did to the gaming landscape can't be understated.

Pokemon completely relies on the Pokemon themselves though. Sonic is always more of a complete package of a game, no matter how bad it's received. That's why BW is the black sheep, because they removed all the pokemon people like and why BW2 is revered as much better in comparison.
When the games look like shit, run like shit, have no story, and is still the same unchanging gameplay loop for the last 3 decades it all comes down to new Pokemon designs and what old Pokemon get in. When that fails to land, Pokemon fails horribly. Sonic characters aren't nearly as give or take. Even when the new games are shit, they are still way better musically, graphically, and tell a better more complete story when compared to any Pokemon game.

I sadly have to agree, even Forces despite being dogshit in game form still has some fantastic music, even if some tracks are hilariously corny even by Sonic standards and the fucking techno smears otherwise perfect compositions and stages end too early for you to fully enjoy some of these fantastic bangers and blah blah blah you get the picture. I feel like Pokemon's music has been degrading over time, we get some good stuff, don't get me wrong, but especially now that (((Toby Fox))) is involved I keep hearing the same fucking shitty compositions with terrible tempo getting spammed over and over again and it's clear some of the old composers in Gamefreak are also way too hit or miss.

Changing the topic from songs again, I also hate how Gamefreak avidly refuses to fucking add good mechanics from their sidegames into mainline ones, Legends Arceus introduced frostbite, which is a billion times better and more balanced than freeze, but they pretty much scrapped that as a whole, different combat styles are interesting concept as well despite it being handled really poorly in PLA, but they scrapped that as well, now with ZA they're going for rollslop gameplay and once again seemingly removing abilities DESPITE the majority of players agreeing abilities are an integral part of Pokemon, that and Megas are likely getting cut after this as well and not a single generational mechanic that came after Megas was good, this cycle is likely not ending in gen 10 and what few improvements could be made in ZA will likely be entirely ignored as well. you make a really good point on the stagnation of the series and I fear it will never improve or change in a good way.
