I don't know why, but I don't enjoy playing Emerald anymore. I think objectively it's the best Pokemon game (at least in terms of content) but I just don't enjoy the game anymore. It has the Battle Frontier plus Trainer Hill (making it 8 battle facilities in total, the most in a Pokemon game, ever) and it has the best side content too (Contests and Secret Bases). But I'm tired of Hoenn as a region (it really does have TOO MUCH WATER) and I don't like the Pokemon selection as much as I used to (I love Sceptile, Swampers, Salamence and Metagross, but there are a lot of Pokemon that I just don't care about).
So yeah, I find myself replaying FRLG, HGSS or Platinum much more often, but I wish they had Emerald's side activities like Contests and Secret Bases. I miss those.
My ideal game would be FRLG or HGSS, but it would have Emerald's side activities added.
