I thought SV was graphically worse than SwSh. While I didn't like how the character and Pokémon models were rendered (they had this weird plastic-y sheen), I thought the environments looked better most of the time. The lighting looked more appealing and colorful. I didn't like how desaturated SV looks, and it didn't have any interesting or visually appealing light effects. Stuff like the Slumbering Weald or the glowing mushroom forest in SwSh looked pretty nice, and nothing in SV comes close to that. And then there's obviously the FPS issues. Some water areas are unplayable.
I didn't experience a lot of bugs, so I don't really get how so many people keep bringing this up as a main point of criticism. I played a couple of hundred hours and I experienced two bugs. One time I got stuck in geometry in Area Zero, and one time I had a softlock after finishing a raid. That's it. I've seen worse in other Pokémon games desu.
While I usually don't care much for open world, I really liked it in SV. I was getting tired of the ol' hallways, maybe cause SwSh was especially guilty of this. I also thought it was stupid how wild Pokémon in SwSh were higher level than the trainers in the same area. Anyway, I just liked exploring and finding different wild Pokémon everywhere in SV. I enjoyed sequence breaking and getting certain Pokémon early. I think whether you like the open world format or not might be the deciding factor in liking or disliking SV.
What's your problem with the story? I thought it was the best one in the mainline series so far. I really liked it. First time the story finale actually felt like a climax to me. Completely opposite of SwSh's wet fart of what they thought was a finale. It was so fucking awful.
