It has some good things like Overworld battling without getting into battle screens, accessing box anywhere, upgradable ride, side quests, but it also has atrocious performance everywhere, ugly characters, most of the new pokemon look ugly, tons and tons of unskippable cutscenes, etc..
I'm using 60fps patch on emulator which made the exploration at least fun
