I was playing Emerald and I felt like "Man the beaches are far uglier than I remebered them to be in Gen 3....".
And then I saw this. They are indeed uglier than in Ruby.
Kinda like trees are uglier in Platinum than in Diamond/Pearl
It's all so tiresome...the third versions have better content but always fuck up in the graphics area.

The differences are really minuscule, but I'm going to point it out.

>The beaches in RS have more of a "dot" motif, and in E are white and soft brown "lines"
>The trees' branches in RS are pointing down, making the trees round. In E, the branches are pointing up, making them look spiky
>RS is brighter, but E is VERY SLIGHTLY darker. But is more like going from 70 brightness to 68. Almost unnoticiable.

Conclusion: OP is a massive autistic faggot. These changes are almost imperceptible, so nobody would complain. And the bright issues is technically not an issue because RS came out when the GBA was a console without backlight. Meanwhile, in Emerald, the GBA SP already hit shelves with backlight, so being so bright was unnecesary. They only used brighter colors because Nintendo only bothered with a (very expected) feature after 20 years of their first handheld, when they had the money and development to do this back in the GBC.

It's hit or miss
ie; picrel, i find to be an overall improvement going to platinum, but its hard to ignore the blinding nuclear grass.

Platinum has more identity with the palm tree but man the colors are horrific
Not that DP's colors were great in the first place, but hell the platinum version is even more disgusting with the black rocks clashing with the neon grass

Because i find it eye-catching, and want to repost it, to give myself an excuse to look at it again.
I really like the design of the areas, i think theyre really cute, even if the colors are a bit off.

That chunk of sinnoh is a volcanic island or something, the darker rock fits it as a geologically distinct area. They just fucked up incredibly hard with the neon green contrast (and didn't bother recoloring ledges to match the local rock color)

Third versions almost always change the graphics arbitrarily for the sake of looking like they're working hard in the office, even if it ultimately worsens the look of the game.
BDSP is direct proof these changes were completely against Masuda's vision, because they go right back to how everything was in DP.

I'd argue Verdanturf got hit the worst with the changes in Emerald, which has jarringly boxy cuts of deep dark grass whereas the darker grass was subtle in RS allowing it to seamlessly blend with the normal grass.

I remember a mild annoyance I had with Emerald was that there's only one overworld Moon Stone, but by picking Solrock over Lunatone, they gutted the ability to farm for a second one even though there's only one Sun Stone evo (Bellossom) and two Moon Stone evos (Wigglytuff and Delcatty) in the Hoenn dex.
Still nowhere near as bad as Platinum making the Dusk Stone utterly worthless for some reason.
