Lucariofags. Game Freak was banking on Lucario's massive popularity with furries for subsequent iterations to help sell games and it didn't go over well for Zoroark and Zeraora. It DID work for Cinderace and Meowscarada.

You mean just Zoroark. Zeraora was barely shilled, but because Japanese school children liked it so much (it was top 5 mons period in some poll they did for them during SWSH), they decided to do a shiny dynamax event and now a mega for it. Also

I don't know if it got a movie or something but the increased merch sales from making it a normal pokemon would've created a bigger profit.
