Even without Gameshark, shinies were ruined by the free Gyarados you get (which people later discovered could allow you to breed for shinies with obscenely easy odds, originally the best in the entire franchise up until GO Welfare Shinies and PLA's maximum odds), then gen 3 had RNG abuse, and gen 4 had Pokeradar chains, Masuda Method and Cute Charm glitch abuse.
This also blatantly disregards that XY started the permanent shift of inherently doubled odds without the need for the charm, making it so everyone effectively has a Shiny Charm without needing to complete the Pokedex, and those who do may as well have TWO charms.
The only truly legitimate shinies in Pokemon are shinies caught in gen 1, because you won't know if they're shiny until you trade them to GSC, and there's no reliable way to abuse glitches or RNG, nor are there any easy cheat codes because who the fuck is making a cheat code for "guaranteed shinies" in gen 1?
