Why didn't they add NPCs blocking the daycare and fossil lab that disappear after the credits so the game could have more postgame?

Why didn't XY lock off the best Pokemon in the game until after the credits, when you've done literally everything and now have nowhere to use that Pokemon except PVP, where the novelty of using it is nullified because now it's just a commonplace requirement to not get your ass kicked in PVP as everyone else is using that same Pokemon?

I dunno, why didnt they have us explore Battle Island before the Elite Four? Or put the Elite Four on Battle Island?
