yeah better dex, it's a little faster, better story, more content, etc.
might depend on why you didn't like pearl though, platinum's one of my favs but it's still slow and the HMs are obnoxious.

Mostly because it was slow as molasses and all the HMs. While I liked Pearl overall, it did make me feel l was aging out of Pokemon (played it back in high school). I don't think I'd have felt the same way had I played Platinum from the get-go.
