Supply and demand? You perceive the supply is larger than it used to be and feel yours are “devalued”? That’s what all this sounds like, even if you’re not specifically aiming to trade a shiny the metric is still the same.
If it’s the struggle and the feeling of accomplishment, then why are you judging that by comparison to a seemingly increased supply? You still struggled and you still won and caught the shiny, that’s not a judgement of value that is really validated by comparison with others, or else your own satisfaction with yourself is pretty flimsy to begin with.
Again, if it’s the lack of satisfaction with Gamefreak giving you shinies with no effort on your part- GF sees it as a cosmetic that people like and chooses to make it more available to players. You never had any guarantee that they wouldn’t do that. There is no “reserved list” for shinies, except for shiny lovking legendaries I guess. But even then, a shiny Rayquaza from Emerald means a lot more, and should still be documented somewhere in the pokémon’s information, than a shiny Rayquaza that we got with the paldea mark. The only difference is that you can’t tell the difference in battle- OH WELL
