Based. I’d post a screenshot if I was at home, but I’ve run Parasect (and other Gen 1 / 2 shitters) through BDSP’s Tower for the ribbon. It’s funny how the Gen 8 Tower ribbon can be entirely common or very rare depending on the pokemon.

Though it was really more for the fun factor, you absorb 1 Water Spout, get a Spore off, and then its kinda dead weight.
And if the Kyogre wasn't choiced or picked Ice Beam on the switch to hit an expected Latias, you just die. Quagsire was a better Kyogre answer overall.

i would guess a lot of the newer trade+item evolution mons don't see a ton of usage, due to a combination of being more difficult to obtain than other mons and having lackluster stats.
i remember really liking the designs of slurpuff and aromatisse heading into gen 6, but abandoned the idea of adding it to my in-game team when i realized i'd have to arrange a trade with someone i trusted to give it back. i eventually did put in the extra effort to get them (and even tried to build a competitive team around them, because i still love them), but... they're just not very good

I do wonder how many people use mons like jynx or dhelmise though. Ones that are both not especially likable in design and are more obscure in their obtainable location (e.g. NPC trade/late game cave for the former and late game location for the latter)

I used one in Pokemon Peridot for a bit, it essentially gets an Eviolite boost when holding a Big Mushroom in that hack.

I've also been wanting to use one in Elite Redux, it gets some fun tools in that hack like an ability that heals it every turn, an innate that deals 1/8 damage to non-ghost types every turn, an innate that gives it the ghost typing, and innate that gives single-targetting moves priority on mons below 50% HP, and a massively buffed Nightmare that has 120 base power on top of its usual effect.

I used a Parasect in my PLA Bug Team run, even had a daily debate with my little sibling with me defending Parasect as they kept telling me Parasect sucks and I kept trying to prove Parasect doesn't suck..then later on in the game Parasect was becoming more and more deadweight that I had to swap her for better bugs because she had too many weakness and extremely slow which I though trick room or tailwind will save her but my little sibling pointed out Parasect will be dead by the time I switch her in and that just open up my eyes that Parasect is unfortunately sucky, though I still like her and will still find a way to make her work somehow, Bug/Grass is such a terrible typing and having 30 speed just makes it worse..

Maybe a Mega will help her?

I actually have and I strongly appreciate its Spore. There are better Spore users in most games but this is Kanto so… plus, I do like that it’s a cordyceps infected cicada nymph.

I use it in Yellow.
It works well to status a wild Pokemon and damage it without KO. Gen 1 Smeargle, basically. Later you can get a dedicated Dragonite and teach it Thunder Wave, Dragon Rage, Wrap, and Rest
