2000's fame is definitely carried by the soundtrack and direction, hardly the story
The Lucario movie deserves credit for trying its best to bring that magical feeling from the OS movies to a later generation, and I don't feel any movie after it ever had it again. There's some embers left in the Darkrai movie.
I like the Zoroark movie, surprisingly competent pacing and plot
I really really wish I Choose You! was a better movie but unfortunately as

Power of Us has a really good cast representing the average people in the pokémon world, my favorite post-gen 3 movie.
The gens 5 and 6 movies kinda exist crumpled up in a blur to me, I don't particularly remember anything remarkable about them. Mostly flashy explosions everywhere while Ash and his friends run around like headless chickens watching a legendary do stuff.
Overall they're actually better than I remember. I think I should give the Gen 3 ones I missed out a try
