He start as talented but impatient, hyperactive and kinda retarded 10yo kid that gets his ass handed to him on multiple occasions for this reasons, with climax of it all being absolutely destroyed by one of Team Galactic Admins at lake whatever. Just after that he slowed down, used that damn Pokedex he got way too late from professor (due to being an autistic zoomer) and git gut at Pokemanz. The small crowning moment of it was that his final team contains both Heracross and Snorlax - Pokemon that are only available through very slow and tedious process of fucking around with honey trees.
He's not a massive edgelord or a jerk or a bleeding heart with sad backstory. He's a just a kid learning about value of patience. I suppose people may be enraged by him because his story is accidentally also a jab for all the people screeching that they fucking must cheat in basic ass jrpg for 7yo kids because they have fucked up attention span.
