Animals do not exist, but terms used for them do as terms for Pokemon.

I.E. There was cat breeder in the anime. Cats as we know them don't exist, but there's still an "idea" of cats in the Pokemon universe.

The same words we created to group animals together, Pokemon uses to group Pokemon together.

The word pterosaur is derived from the Greek words "pteron" (means wing) and "sauros" (means lizard). So, it literally means "winged lizard".

There are plenty of Pokemon that be described as winged lizards, aka pterosaurs.

Anon... I've read nearly every Pokédex Entry. The most logical conclusion to me was to just consider them not canon and just Game Freak having some fun writing stuff for the Pokémon. I don't want to start getting into specific examples, it's just too much.

Pikachu is the Mouse Pokémon
For Pikachu to be the mouse Pokémon, mouses, in some shape or form, have to exist.
I tend to think, taking the fear people display of pokémon in Legends Arceus, that pokémon dont exist everywhere in the world.
That this world is like an alternarive version of our own, in which, in addition to real world locations, there are also pokémon continents lands and countries, in which Pokémon existe, and have most ridden these lands of Common Animals.

They do. As Pokemon. "Mouse" is just a word humans created to categorize animals with shared characteristics.

Mice exist in the Pokemon world, just not the same kinds that exist in ours.

Do you understand that the pterosaur name has to describe and essence? If there are not ptrerosaurs (object) being described by the word, then why create a class pterosaur? Why not aeroactly-like? Or aerodacta?

Charizard, Sceptile, Inteleon etc. are specific species of lizard, the term lizard refers to the group as a whole, given that name because of their shared traits

You're making this more complicated than it needs to be. These Pokemon share similar characteristics, so naturally, people in that world would create a word to group them together. That word being "mouse". It's as simple as that.

Animals don't exist in their world, the words they came up with to categorize Pokemon just happen to be the same ones we use in the real world for our animals.

I understand that they are aggregating pokémon by similar characteristics, but there are pokémon like mankey, the Pig Monkey Pokémon.
What is a Pig and what is a Monkey? Is a Pig a Lechonk and its evolution?
Is a Monkey rilaboom chimchar and mankey? They are pretty different from one another, what does the generic Monkey look like?

Puppies are the Babies of dogs, dog being a domesticated descendentes of the Wolf by the name of Canis Lupus Familiaris.
The reference is a comparison to dogs, but dogs cant be If their only form is dog-like-pokemon.
It can go even deeper, furfrou is the poodle pokémon, poodle being a Very specified Race of dog, that is already a selected breed of the Grey Wolf.
Or buneary, the rabbit pokémon, rabbit being a species, and not a family or order

I was inclined to believe by how much of a novelty pokemon seem to be that they only were recently rediscovered in the world.
In Kanto It feels they are still Very much Monsters, but already well adopted in Kanto, while causing chaos around the world and perhaps even unknown in some part.
They are like mythical creatures really, that only inhabit certain regions. Pidgeys and caterpies are Commonplace compared to jynx, Onix, arcanine etc.
