It's not that bad to obtain. You can get it in maybe an hour or two if you really try for it, and you're rewarded with something really strong for the effort.
Alcremie was pretty annoying in gen 8. Gen 9's is also annoying if you don't RNG abuse the crafting machine.

Basically it's a soul check. If you are paying attention to the game and have a natural curiosity, you will read the information given, catch the audio cues, climb all the towers and easily evolve Gholdengo. If you're rushing through with your starter with the game muted while multitasking subway surfers and family guy, it will feel like an awful slog, and you should feel awful.

You have to deliberately grind Gimmighoul spawn points to reasonably get 999 coins, even if you spend your time thoroughly exploring all of Paldea. Unless you get retardedly good RNG, because the coin yields are random.

Nah. It's super easy. You get 30~50 coins just from going to the towers which are all fly points.
Skip forward and do them all again.
Takes like an hour to 999.

Untrue, I got mine about 70% into my playthrough jus picking up things as I saw them and progressed. No repeat areas, and didnt even go to all the areas yet.

Melmetal is worse.
>send a mon from go to lgpe
>get at best 20 meltan spawns
>pinap berry all of them for 6 candy instead of 3
>hope they all catch in 1-2 balls otherwise you're wasting resources AND spawning time
>release them for 1 extra candy
>wait a week for the box to be usable again
>repeat 2-3 times for 400 candies
Maybe you get lucky and there's a 2x candy event going on, you have an abundance of silver pinaps from raids and shit, get lucky feeding berries to a meltan/melmetal in a gym, and walk a lot with it as your buddy to maximize candy so you can pull it off in 1 or 2 boxes. It's still a time-gated evolution requiring 2 games on different hardware one of which mines your data, and then you still have to transfer it to lgpe/home/swsh.

You're talking about the 2019 or so method for Melmetal. It's nothing like that today. I just opened a mystery box on a recently created account. Spawns every 30 seconds or so (and I'm just sitting at home). Withou pinapping them all or without mega evolving anything Steel (because again, new account), I caught 69 of them, earning 228. After deleting 98 of them (keeping a 93%), I now have 296 candy and 230 XL candy. I simply have to do this again tomorrow to have Melmetal, and maybe one more day to power it up.
