I haven't really tapped into Pokemon since like Sun and Moon, I played that game alongside my friends when I was in HS but then i got pretty annoyed when the ultra versions came out.

how are the games now? is the newer anime fun? is it worth giving a shit or should i just save my money

New designs are bad and New games stray further and further away from being RPGs.
Anime has gotten better, I suppose, and many other accessory series and animations are very good.
It apparently sells a lot of dolls and cards and whatever other merchandises.
So I guess It is Very bad but great for the company

Most people here don't play the games because they're either broke neets or thirdies. Right now the brand is doing very well.

SV is the best selling game since RBY and the card game is massively popular. TPC had a major restructure post-covid, with GF moving into the Nintendo offices and buying out a large portion of ILCA. ZA is set to be a launch window game for Switch 2, and SV is getting a switch 2 update day one.

This lewd cat is the current mascot.

Boomer (33) here. Played every single mainline game the day they released.

I think it's currently pretty good, it actually got better the last few years. I really disliked SwSh, and I didn't touch the anime with a 10 foot pole because Ash is a terrible character.

However, I really liked SV. Despite all the obvious issues, namely graphics and performance, it was a really enjoyable game. I enjoyed the open world format, I liked the characters, and the story was actually pretty compelling and left an impression on me. That's very rare for a Pokémon game.
Horizons is pretty good too. It has an actual overarching plot, and the character writing is pretty consistent and charming. It has its issues but I like it a lot more than the Ashnime for sure.

You could at least give Horizons a shot since that's for "free". I don't know if you'll like SV, depends on how you feel about open world and if you can bear the visuals and performance.

Same age here and I feel similarly. SV is miles better than SwSh despite the poor framerate. Horizons is also a long-needed and very welcome reboot.

Im not even a gennwunner but the new designs are legitimately fucking terrible.
Also, gamefreak continues to botcher the games because they can't into 3d design and are running out of ideas, introducing wacky mechanics such as gigantamax

The games stopped being good after gen 7, the anime is good, the tcg is better than ever (art wise) and the merchandise is good, so the only bad thing now are the games, which are a 4/10 at best

Well It is the single largest media franchise on earth. I don’t know how more popular you really can get with it. It is the Disney of the modern age and acknowledged throughout eastern and western civilization. Like Disney, it is a force that will quietly greatly impact the sexual growth and preferences of future generations and shift the dynamics of various paradigms by continuing to sneak messages of sexual freedom and exploration to youth.
