>>57710353Not really, in SM's case Lillie's family drama is only possible because (You) basically serve as her battle proxy, so the story is always progressing as your battling helps Lillie overcome personal adversities and slowly inspires her to break out of her traumatic shell.
The story in SWSH doesn't exist until the ass end of the game when they remembered "wait, you still need to SAVE LE WORLD!" and knock Leon down a peg so you can have an epic cutscene battle against Eternatus where you're guaranteed to win no matter what because they wanted to treat it like a raid battle and your partners are the fucking legendaries who counter Dynamax, and every character basically undergoes their arc offscreen except for Hop and Leon.
Hop's arc is only onscreen because he shows up in literally every goddamned route and town to battle you and each loss contributes to his desire to eventually quit it with being a copycat of his brother, and Leon's arc as someone who wants out of the system but needs to go out legitimately so he can start pursuing genuine passions again is an inherent given as someone who's been literally undefeated since his Pokemon League debut.
Marnie's arc doesn't exist and her entire existence can be summed up with the optional smile scene, and Bede's arc is offscreen.
