>>57711176started with yellow during the DP era because i got lucky and my grandpa found it + a gbc for like 20$ at a garage sale, but didn't get fully into loving the franchise until gen 5 a few years later at 12 after saving up all my allowance+yard work money for a ds and a copy of black, and getting explorers of time for my birthday a couple weeks later. i mostly enjoyed gen 6 and had mild fun with base sun, but USUM caused me to drift away from the franchise and adopt a rule to wait a week or so after every new pokemon game releases to see if it's worth my time and money, and it hasn't failed me since(i mildly enjoyed LA and let's go but probably only because i pirated them). i'm genuinely appalled that BSDP and especially ScatVomit are games that people have accepted as part of the franchise and paid for, let alone actively defend as a finished product.
ever since LA i've been going back through every pre-switch generation to see examine my nostalgia and see what i missed out on, and it's just made me sadder and angrier alike at the undead husk of what this franchise has become. as

>>57712864 said, the world and idea of pokemon is so wonderful and fascinates me even as an adult, but the state of the mainline games just has me totally depressed and disenfranchised. i'm still holding one last glimmer of hope for LZA and willing to give it a chance, especially considering how much they've been delaying it(a good sign because their strict corporate schedule led to the piles of shit we currently deal with), but if it's anything less than passable i'm accepting that this franchise will never improve and cutting off all my ties to modern pokemon.
