Has there been any Western RPGs where monster taming is the focus, or even as a mechanic or feature? Just saw someone mention the idea and it got me wondering how a pokemon wrpg would work. I imagine it would be more feasible as an old school turn based game better than a 3d action rpg. Like Fallout 2 or Romancing SaGa instead of Skyrim.

What kind of mechanics would even work? Would you prefer different endings or different factions you could join?

Which side would you be on, the New Kyogre Republic or Groudon's Legion?
