Why can't I find retail priced TCG products anywhere?

Is it scalpers?
Only products I can find are prebuilt decks and that collection box with the Ho-Oh, Lugia and Suicune ex cards from the classic collection.
Everything else is either scarce, or being sold online for 5x retail.

they're printing more cards than ever before, by a significant margin. it doesn't matter because scalpers are willing to drop thousands and thousands of dollars knowing they'll still make a profit reselling to addicts.
the only solution would be to implement store limits, but wagies don't want to deal with pissed off scalpers harassing them, so that won't happen. or for people to stop buying scalped cards altogether.

that's not the case, it's 100% intentional to make sure distribution/retailers will always want to stock (buy) everything they print

even shops have to fight for scraps via the various distribution channels, you are never guaranteed to receive the full stock of products you order and it's a pain in the ass, makes it hard to set up preorders and as a result people who are genuinely interested (as in, people who do not only care about reselling) have a very hard time getting what they want
[no spoilers on /vp/] doesn't help that my boss is a massive jew and once we do receive the products, he compares the selling prices on other shops and reselling sites and increases the prices accordingly - we always sell everything regardless, shit's fucked

It's the same with mtg and to some extent one piece tcg

they do have thousands of dollars to drop. because they know they will make that back tenfold. it will never become too expensive for scalpers as long as it's still profitable for them. people will invest ridiculous amounts of money if they know they will make a return on it. the only thing that will stop them is if it stops being profitable for them, which would mean people have to stop buying from them.

Scalpers are some of the most braindead individuals, basically they entered the market at a good time and were able to make a lot of money off 151 and prismatic due to the high demand and the fact they came out of nowhere en masse and caught the typical supply off guard. Only thing is these are the same people who are daytraders/sneakerheads/eletronics and gpu resellers/etc who know very little about the product, just the hustle and how to read behaviors and patterns. Now theres bajillions of them who are slowly finding out all the packs they've bought out of like journey together for example are going near msrp and they'll have to wait years to make a return as well as some in the know hoping and encouraging the mania hoping to keep things the way they are. Also social media platforms are heavily feeding into the hype with people regularly opening $300+ vintage packs just to make content, which means it's now hitting all audiences.

tl;dr the whole things a shit show.
