>>57726199Me too, the biggest downside I can think of is it'd ruin the surprise in randomized egg runs - or more in line with Game Freak's intended experience, friends trading you an egg to surprise you with something cool when it hatches. But that could be fixed with something similar to ball capsules, give us an item we can use on eggs if we want it to be a mystery to give it the default texture, call it surprise paint or something idk. Hell, being able to know what the egg will hatch into would be very useful on top of being a nice world building detail! Breeding for stuff like the nidorans or vulbeat/illumise means immediately knowing which you have so you don't bother hatching eggs for the wrong one, if you collected a bunch in boxes to hatch later while generating more then forgot about them you would be able to tell which were what, eggs could be put up for trade without anyone getting scammed, and because everyone can tell what's in the eggs without breaking immersion there's no reason they couldn't be put on the gts - they might even be more desirable than actual pokemon in some situations because you can trade for version exclusives but they'd have your ot/id when it hatches and they'd be blank slates as far as moves and evs go.
