In canon, basically all the girls besides Platinum and Scarlet have rounded eyes, more or less, unless I'm forgetting someone.
Anyway, MCs with the sharp tsurime eyes are the ones with "arrogant" personalities: Green (m), Ruby and Scarlet I guess, and then to a lesser extent Gold, Platinum and Blake (they're more inconsistent). Though Green (m) has matured out of stereotypical arrogance into a more self-assured serious kind of vibe, he's just someone not to be messed with. Meanwhile when Ruby and Blake lock in they also look like psychopaths, or at least that's the intention anyway.
To return to topic, Sapphire's relatively rounded eyes seem to prevent her from actually looking scary (or more like she'll just never be drawn that way in canon). That and she's too naive/pure to cross any moral event horizon, too dumb to be that arrogant, so at worst she's just a noisy aggressive animal. Memes aside, for all her powers she's not actually going to hurt anyone, at least not on purpose outside of
badly written OOC gags.
The story basically says Sapphire was a red herring, the retarded Tarzan girl was actually the nice cute one, and that an actual dangerous/possibly evil person is one who isn't naturally bound by morality. So, Ruby.
