>>57730625The fact of the matter is that the era of leaks is good and dead. The Freak Leak basically gave us a lifetime's worth of good shit, but in exchange, we'll never again get leaks of upcoming games until we start seeing broken street dates.
And even THAT might not last past LZA, Gen 10 could be one of those digital code-only games specifically to counteract street date breakers, finally ending Pokemon's reputation of leaking just before release.
Of course, this isn't just a matter of "to protect Pokemon", Zelda is a huge part of it too. Emuniggers got cocky and gloated about how they were emulating TotK pre-release AND performing better than real hardware, so that immediately got Nintendo's eyes on them and told them that the piracy issue is still rampant. So for games they don't want to leak pre-release, you better fucking believe they're getting the digital treatment. And this, naturally, will extend to Pokemon, the poster child of leaking.
