Venusaur is definitely more Pokémony imo. Gotta appreciate how ambitious it is. The eeveelutions are also great Pokémon designs. To me a perfect Pokémon design uses design elements from a few sources to create an entirely new but recognizable creature. Like what is Venusaur? Is it a frog? Dinosaur? Walking plant? It's got alot of intersting aspects just in the design. Blastoise is basically a turtle with some extra flair. Nothing wrong with that. I do like his ears. I would have kept the long feathery tail though. Blastoise just having a normal turtle tail always bugged me.

I wish sugimori had made some art similar to blastoise's gen1 sprite. many of the fan versions are of such low quality

too boring. I dislike the faithful remake approach they took with it. feels like the first game, except maybe Yellow, made without passion and just out of necessity. by the time I reach the postgame I'd be bored enough to switch to RB.

the nidos to me have always felt like the truest embodiment of what pokemon are. something you look at and go "yep, that's how pokemon works. that's what an evolution line looks like."

they're so underutilized. should have had higher base stats closer to starters. nido king and queen just look amazing and really retain that kaiju appearance from the early concepts
