Some people here just can't appear to comprehend that just because a species has human-level cognition, doesn't mean they will behave exactly like humans. We've never met another species with level-human or higher, we have extremely little to go off for what they'd be like. There's a lot of stuff about us that makes our species unique other than our cognition-level.
In fiction its possible for the creator to make it even more so the case. There's clear reasons why Pokémon don't behave like humans.
