All battles are 3v3 but tournaments let you pick from 6 Pokémon you bring (hence 6v6), so most teams have to be able to cover every possible meta answer with 6 Pokémon, which heavily restricts team construction. In regular competitive, you'll often see over 50 different Pokémon across teams you fight each day.
Also, these teams are build for Great League, which favor Pokémon with lower BSTs. If the tournament used Master League instead (no stat restrictions), it would look like every other competitive Pokémon team.
