Also, who fucking knows. I'm under the impression that X and Y would've been a fundamentally different game during the era when they were still considering south Kalos. The games clearly went through development hell and back which explains the state they released in. Could've been better, could've been worse, /vp/ would still be bitching about them either way.

It would fix content and exploration having more areas to traverse through and, thus, more ways to occupy the player besides online. Difficulty is a matter of execution and story in Pokemon doesn't matter a lot when the standards weren't that high to begin with.

That's mostly the thing with XY. The copium of "if only they added south Kalos" or "if only there was a Z" isn't necessarily a wrong take. Maybe those would have had a u-turn like Platinum was to Diamond\Pearl.
But at it's core, the defense of XY is "if they hypothetically made a good game, it would have been a good game."

Who knows. I feel like it would have benefitted more from longer in the oven. I've said it enough but the game has probably some of the best early game of any handheld pokemon game. After you get the megastones the game goes to shit.
Adding a south Kalos adds more areas to explore, I don't think it would fix the storyline being trash, but it's pokemon. It's never had a good storyline.
