and general dislike for the starters, granted gen 5 is my favorite yet it has my least liked starter trio in terms of design and late game delivery

Boomers complained about not being able to catch legacy pokemon like in the other games. Every other complaint was basically irrelevant or derived from that. By the time they made BW2 and fixed it it was too late.

And so on, some went insane because touko flaunted her butt in each battle and so on "loli in hot pants is bad" and so on.
But those are the reasons people hated the game when it was their fault for being pirates.

That reminds me of the time Joe Merrick said that the rival battles at the beginning don't give exp due to being a tutorial, when that was due to him having pirated the game.

this is pretty much what I remember as well. back in the day it was Kanto boomers seething about the new Pokemon, these days the criticism mostly comes from fans of newer gens nitpicking about shit. the core audience of Gen 5 has been pretty consistently positive about the games.

I liked B2W2 better because the variety of Pokemon available was insane. Both games were good.
