>>57797711I am actually so embarrassed for people who are into this. It's not even a good card game and none of you even play it. They have no intrinsic value when they aren't used. Some day, all these graded 10 cards are going to be worthless.
And why would it become worthless? Because of this scalping shit. Nobody is actually playing. You all are treating a card game like investments but forgetting what created the value here. Millions of kids played this at school and after, millions of kids had cool cards and others they wanted but had no budget for, and now that population and popularity grew, and used cards didn't hold up, mint versions of the originals are exceptionally rare. But every rock is rare. Rarity alone means shit. It has to be a rock people desire and desire for pokemon cards only comes from when kids missed out and grew up and have more money to spend on it.
The cards have no value if kids today don't want them in 20 years. It is all 30-40yo streamers overpaying scalpers so they can rip packs live and stick them into holders and send off for grading. No kid today is going to want this when they grow up. I mean, a few into pokemon might try the game but it will be to play the game more than collecting.
Face it, you're collecting Hummels. If you don't get the reference, exactly. The only buyers today are people that want one because it looks nice, or because they had a parent/grandparent into them. Nobody thinks they will grow.
If you want to invest, invest in index funds. If you want to play a game then play the game. All the talk about these new packs and I have not seen one second of content on any steam of people actually playing or talking about strategies or deck building. It's all ooing at the price of some card they will never even touch.
This market is doomed in the long run. Just don't spend to much on it or expect it to return.
