To be fair, this is the Pokemon world. Given their ubiquity, there's probably plenty of options to handle those problems, or maybe Vulpix and Ninetales don't have that problem.

I mean, yeah. They're literally magical versions of their real life counterparts, and some of them DON'T have a true counterpart(Vulpix's own Pokemon counterpart, Growlithe doesn't have one! They're a tiger wolf!) So, it goes with saying that not everything HAS to copy over.
