This works even if the pokemon didn't participate in the battle, so just give all your Pokemon the item for the evs you want and fight pokemon that yield the common ev or a neutral ev.
Ev yields are listed in the dex, you can check your current evs and ivs by pressing A on the stats menu.
By your 5th star you should have enough money for all of this, I also recommend training a shyguy for happy hour and payday, make sure it holds a luck incense or amulet coin, I had a luck incense by world 5,
