>>57813649Vgc player here. Smogon (the administration) doesn't appreciste what accuracy or evasion being to the table when greatly manipulated as it allows you to perform or survive certain actions that would usually result in you getting your shit pushed in specifically because you set up to stack odds on a roll.
>>57813651's statement is the stance because hypothetically I could do everything properly to plan and address board states independant of evasion and become thwarted simply by a bad roll. It's viewed as unfun and uncompetitive.
There is a notion in game pvp design that if mechanic B exists simply to shut down or negate mechanic A with little to no other opportunity cost then it's frustrating to the players using A. An example of this is how you can, with a proper source of continuous metal, use the Short Circuit as TF2's Engineer and delete Soldier rockets and Demo bombs just my shooting it in the general direction of the incoming projectiles. Same with the Razorback denying Spies a backstab, it exists soley to negate and shut down another mechanic. At least airblasting requires timing.
Now, as someone who's used an Alolan Muk Minimize team in regulation G, VGC players don't like it either. You usually never see the autistic meltdowns on Showdown's VGC ladder you do in Smogon singles, but I've gotten a bunch of comments ranging from petty to seriously rustled because of my team and the games I'd be in. And to be fair mid match nobody's brain appreciates that evasion and accuracy rolls are emulating missing, they simple think "move that had 100% chance of connecting... didn't connect." But you can't hate the player, you hate the game that has such an rng mechanic to begin with. I would ask "I wonder how many people realize this" but there probably is a significant number who are cognazant because they choose to play Smogon, a league centered around rules like banning evasion. Still, its in the game, its an intended feature.
